FAQ's

What are the conditions that most benefit from physical therapy?
Physical therapy benefits many different people. The most common conditions we treat include low back pain, sports/running injuries, headaches, neck pain, rehabilitation after surgery, orthotics, whiplash, knee, shoulder and ankle injuries. We treat acute (recently happened) and chronic (long-standing) injuries.

How do I know I need physical therapy?
The decision can be made in conjunction with your physician or our therapists can do a thorough evaluation and prescribe a treatment plan.  Colorado Athletic Club members can obtain a free injury evaluation at a regularly scheduled clinic. Call 720.873.6266 for more information on days and times these clinics are held.

What can I expect from physical therapy?
Each patient will receive a thorough evaluation based on a comprehensive multi-system approach involving joint mobility, soft tissue assessment and a neurological examination. Once the assessment is complete, a plan of treatment is discussed with the patient. Treatments utilize manual therapy techniques to restore normal function to the injured area and are always with the same physical therapist.
Each patient will also be assessed using a muscle imbalance approach based on the most current research, and prescribed a specific exercise program. The physical therapist will also work with your personal trainer or incorporate the exercises into your regular workout routine.  Our therapists incorporate manual therapy and exercise with Pilates, massage therapy, aqua therapy and any other modalities necessary to treat the current injury and prevent any future recurrence.

Do I need a referral from my physician to attend physical therapy?
In the State of Colorado you can be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without a physician's referral. However, some insurance plans require that you obtain a referral from your physician. We can advise you as to whether this is required by your plan.

How long does a treatment session last?
The initial evaluation takes one hour and includes a thorough history-taking and in-depth examination. At the end of the evaluation the therapist will discuss a treatment plan including the number of visits needed to return you to your previous activities and the goals of such treatment. Subsequent visits will last between 45 and 60 minutes.

How do I pay for treatment?
We participate in most major insurance plans and will bill your insurance company directly. Before commencing treatment, we ascertain physical therapy benefits available under your medical plan.
If you do not wish to utilize your insurance, you may choose our private pay plan.  We accept checks and major credit cards.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?
We want to help as many people as possible so all cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance so we may use the time to help someone else.  Cancellations made after the 24 hours in advance will be subject to a $45 charge.
