SERVICES
MANUAL THERAPY
Our physical therapists specialize in manual therapy or hands-on techniques to evaluate the muscles, fascia, nerves and joints. We focus on the comprehensive approach with every patient. The most common conditions we treat include lower back pain, sports/running injuries, headaches, whiplash, knee, shoulder and ankle injuries. We treat acute (recently happened) and chronic (long term) injuries. Each patient will receive a thorough evaluation based on a comprehensive multi-system approach involving joint mobility, soft tissue assessment and a neurological examination. Additionally, each patient is assessed using a muscle imbalance approach based on the most current research and prescribed a specific exercise program which can be incorporated into your regular workout program. Once the assessment is complete, a plan of treatment is discussed with the patient to restore normal function to the injured area.
PILATES
While physical therapy will correct joint dysfunction in the spine and other areas of the body, Pilates develops the muscles to stabilize the body in the new and corrected alignment. Pilates-based exercises retrain weak and dysfunctional muscles to improve stabilization and increase flexibility in the spine, shoulders, hips and knees to establish strong proper postural alignment.
MASSAGE THERAPY
Our massage therapists and physical therapists work together to address tight and dysfunctional muscles and will work together to form a program designed specifically for the individual needs and conditions. Incorporating massage therapy with physical therapy helps to lessen pain and shorten recovery time for the patients. Massage therapy is currently offered at our Dry Creek Clinic.
TRIGGER POINT DRY NEEDLING
With physical therapy, Trigger Point Dry Needling (TPDN) is a treatment for muscular tightness and spasms which commonly follows injuries and often accompanies the degenerative processes. Muscular tightness and spasms cause compression and irritation of the nerves exiting the spine. When the nerves are irritated, they cause a protective spasm of all the muscles to which they are connected. This may cause peripheral diagnoses such as carpel tunnel, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, decreased mobility and chronic pain. Small, fine needles are inserted in the muscles at the trigger points causing the pain referral. The muscles would then contract and release, improving flexibility of the muscle and decreasing symptoms. For more information please visit www.istop.org.
MCU
The Multi-Cervical Unit (MCU) is a device utilized by physical therapists to evaluate and rehabilitate the cervical spine for range of motion and strength deficits. If a deficiency is found in either range of motion or strength, rehabilitation of the neck muscles performed on the MCU can greatly reduce those deficits. The MCU is currently available at our Brighton Clinic.
AQUA THERAPY
Aqua therapy is appropriate for many different patients. One-on-one and/or group classes conducted by a physical therapist are designed to restore mobility, increase strength and improve cardiovascular conditions. In addition, this therapy improves the body’s local and global stabilization and decreases pain levels. Classes are individualized, based on the patient’s symptoms and functional needs. Aqua therapy is currently offered at our Inverness Clinic.
EDUCATION
We believe that along with a therapy program designed just for the patient’s needs, it is also important to share the latest news, studies and research in physical therapy. We mail out quarterly newsletters and offer various seminars, clinics and presentations to both patients and medical professionals keeping everyone informed. Please visit our "About Us" page for information on upcoming events or seminars. Or for further information please call us at 720-493-1181.
